Most people know Tyler Blevins as Ninja, a Fortnite live streamer and professional video game player. His claim to fame came from his entertaining live streams of playing Fortnite. Over the years Ninja has amassed a huge following across multiple different social networks and streaming services. On most platforms his following soars into the millions! Tyler Blevins cares deeply about his fans which is why he reacted the way he did when Twitch did the unthinkable.
Why Hasn’t Ninja Been Streaming On Twitch?
The live video game streaming platform Twitch was purchased by Amazon in 2014 for $970 million. Since then Twitch has increased its popularity exponentially. Ninja was one of the gamers who took advantage of this live streaming boom and curated his fame.
In a recent Twitch update streamer’s profiles have started displaying other “related” content on their profile when they are offline and not streaming. In most cases it will be other gamers who have similar content to you. One day when Ninja was offline, one of the streams that was being broadcast through his channel was straight up pornography. When he found out his fans had been exposed to this, he was enraged.
This incident provoked Ninja to stop streaming on Twitch and move all of his Fortnite streaming to Mixer.com, a direct competitor to Twitch that is owned by Microsoft. Basically Ninja has said that he will no longer be streaming on Twitch and from now on you will only be able to watch his Fortnite streams on Mixer. This is a bold move that is risky for Tyler Blevins. This could go one of two ways. One way is that Ninja’s millions of fans follow him over to Mixer, which Mixer would be thrilled with. The other possibility is that his following dwindles due to the switch and he is either forced to make another move or switch back to Twitch.
Will Tyler Blevins (Ninja) Ever Use Twitch Again?
Many in the professional gaming community have criticized Ninja for his decision to move to Mixer. It will be interesting to see what comes of the decision. Like we stated earlier there are really two different things that could happen. One, Ninja could continue his success, or two, he could be forced to move back to Twitch. We feel like his decision to move to Mixer was fueled by emotion as apposed to thought. this makes us believe that he will eventually give up his rebellion against the video streaming giant Twitch and return to his home.
It could be the case that Mixer has given Tyler Blevins a large sum of money to make the switch. This would mean that Ninja does not care about the loss of revenue from not streaming on Twitch as he his receiving more directly from Microsoft and Mixer. Only time will tell how this will all play out.
